anointed, the Greek translation of the Hebrew word rendered "Messiah" (q.v.), the official title of our LORD, It denotes that he was anointed or consecrated to his great redemptive work as Prophet, Priest and King of his people.

He is Jesus the Christ

Acts 17:3 He was explaining and proving the prophecies about the sufferings of the Messiah and his rising from the dead. He said, "This Jesus I'm telling you about is the Messiah."

He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed and this prophecy was fulfilled in Luke:4:18
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,

and by Daniel 9:24-26 "A period of seventy sets of seven has been decreed for your people and your holy city to put down rebellion, to bring an end to sin, to atone for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to confirm the prophetic vision, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times.
26"After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end.

The Messiah is the same person as "the seed of the woman"

Gen. 3:15 From now on, you and the woman will be enemies, and your offspring and her offspring will be enemies. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

"the seed of Abraham" (Gen. 22:18 and through your descendants, all the nations of the earth will be blessed--all because you have obeyed me."

the "Prophet like unto Moses" (Deut. 18:15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites, and you must listen to that prophet.

"the priest after the order of Melchizedek" Psalms:110:4  The LORD has taken an oath and will not break his vow: "You are a priest forever in the line of Melchizedek."

"the rod out of the stem of Jesse" (Isa. 11:1 Out of the stump of David's family will grow a shoot--yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.
10 In that day the heir to David's throne will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to him, for the land where he lives will be a glorious place.

the "Immanuel," the virgin's son (Isa. 7:14 All right then, the Lord himself will choose the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel--`God is with us.'
"the branch of Jehovah" Isa. 4:2 But in the future, Israel--the branch of the LORD--will be lush and beautiful, and the fruit of the land will be the pride of its people.

and "the messenger of the covenant" Malachi. 3:1 "Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming," says the LORD Almighty.
This is he "of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write." The Old Testament Scripture is full of prophetic declarations regarding the Great Deliverer and the work he was to accomplish. Jesus the Christ IS Jesus the Great Deliverer, the Anointed One, the Saviour of men. This name denotes that Jesus was divinely appointed, commissioned, and accredited as the Saviour of men (Heb. 5:4 And no one can become a high priest simply because he wants such an honor. He has to be called by God for this work, just as Aaron was.
Isaiah 11:2-4
2And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. 3He will delight in obeying the LORD. He will never judge by appearance, false evidence, or hearsay. 4He will defend the poor and the exploited. He will rule against the wicked and destroy them with the breath of his mouth.
Isaiah 49:6 He says, "You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." Acts 2:22
"People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus of Nazareth by doing wonderful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know.
To believe that "Jesus is the Christ" is to believe that he is the Anointed, the \Messiah of the prophets, the Saviour sent of God, that he was, in a word, what he claimed to be. This is to believe the gospel, by the faith of which alone men can be brought unto God. That Jesus is the Christ is the testimony of God, and the faith of this constitutes a Christian 1Corinthians 12:3 So I want you to know how to discern what is truly from God: No one speaking by the Spirit of God can curse Jesus, and no one is able to say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
1 John 5:1
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too.
